Faith Circles are NOT small groups, or community groups, or life groups, or whatever else they may be calling them these days. Yes they may carry some similarities, they may both have small numbers, they may both gather regularly, they may even both be about studying the Bible or some other form of curriculum based study. It’s not that we are against any of these things, NOT AT ALL, we utilize some of those approaches and tools.
BUT Faith Circles are about two or more people sharing a common interest centered around God’s work in the world. They are about community, sharing life, swapping stories. Community can’t be programmed, so anywhere that two or more people are engaged in some interest – we consider that a Faith Circle. That interest may be delivering coats to Wheeler Mission (clothing those in need), it may be working in the Hope Garden (feeding the hungry), it may be a cookout with friends (hospitality), or getting together with another family so the kids can play (fellowship). Faith Circles, just like the logo, are about lives intersecting, while recognizing that God’s presence is there.
Really Faith Circles covers about everything we do as members of the church, which is why we are mentioning here. Because it takes being mindful and being intentional about connecting with other people. Community emerges spontaneously from the environment, and it takes time, and effort to develop.
So get out there and make some Circles with others. If you are interested, we have a couple of Faith Circles that, as said earlier, study the Bible or curriculum regularly together. If you like more information on them please contact us, and we can get you connected.
