Faith Community’s children’s ministries exist to help families and children know God’s Story as revealed by his Word and actively become a part of that Story. In order for this to happen, our children’s ministries want families and children to:
- Discover who God is,
- Experience his love for them,
- Live the way God wants them to, and
- Bring God’s Kingdom to their world.
Children’s spiritual instruction is the responsibility of the parents (Deuteronomy 6:7; Ephesians 6:4). Biblically, their responsibility extends further
than just seeing that children receive instruction. The primary emphasis of our children’s ministry is to support the biblical position of the home. In supporting the ministry of the parents, we endeavor to be a readily available resource to the home. Furthermore, the parents are to train up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, rather than the church being a competing force or separate entity of influence than the home.
However, we also think there is some truth to the saying “It takes a village to raise a child.” So we at Faith Community offer or experience, our insight, our wisdom, our encouragement, our support, and our empathy to parents as they attempt to prepare their children for life. And because a lot of ministry opportunities are multi-generational, we naturally provide an environment that allows the interaction, modelling, and instruction from various parents, grandparents, and friends.
